Voting / Candidate Information for Opelika Alabama
If you are new to the Opelika area, or have never registered to vote before, one of the things you’ll want to be sure to do is get yourself registered, for not only will Opelika residents be involved in a national election for President this year, the city is also holding elections again in August for the offices of mayor and city council.
You can register to vote by going to the Board of Registrars office, located in the Lee County Courthouse in downtown Opelika (215 South 9th Street). If you have questions, please feel free to call them at: 334-737-3635.
Another thing you will want to do is find out which “Ward” you live in, so you can know which current city council member represents you, and where you will go to place your votes in both the city and national elections. There are a couple of ways to find out what Ward you live in.
You can click here <../../Default.asp?ID=302&pg=Ward+Maps>to bring up the official "City of Opelika" ward map. You can locate your address on that color coded map and find out which ward you now reside.
You can call the Opelika’s City Clerk, Mr. Robert Shuman, at (334) 705-5110. Mr. Shuman will be more than happy to help you locate your Ward and let you know who your council representative is.
